HDPE

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is a polyethylene product with high density and a linear structure, produced by the polymerization of ethylene under specific temperature and pressure conditions in the presence of catalysts such as titanium and chromium. Because its synthesis environment is typically low temperature and low pressure, HDPE can also be called low-pressure polyethylene.

Chemical Properties

Main application areas

Pipe system: HDPE pipes are widely used in municipal water supply and drainage, gas transmission, and hydraulic engineering, with a working pressure range typically ranging from 0.25 to 1.6 MPa. ‌

Water supply pipe: Compliant with GB/T13663.2-2018 standard, with hygienic performance meeting the requirements for drinking water transmission, and divided into two grades: PE80 and PE100. ‌

Drainage pipe: including double-wall corrugated pipe, spiral wound pipe, etc., featuring chemical resistance, light weight, good flexibility, and supporting non-excavation construction. ‌‌

Connection method: Electric hot-melt connection is primarily used, with a joint strength higher than that of the pipe body, ensuring reliable sealing. ‌

Impermeable membrane and geotextile: HDPE membrane (geotextile membrane) has an extremely high impermeability coefficient (water vapor permeability coefficient ≤1.0×10-13), and is widely used for impermeable construction in landfills, wastewater treatment ponds, and artificial lakes. ‌

Characteristics: UV resistance, outdoor service life up to 50-70 years, and resistance to acid and alkali corrosion. ‌

Packaging and containers: Due to its non-hygroscopic, water vapor-proof, and non-toxic properties, it is commonly used to manufacture milk bottles, detergent bottles, and food packaging containers. ‌‌

Other fields: including wire and cable insulation, high-density polyethylene sheets (used for tank lining and mudguards), and injection-molded daily necessities. ‌
