N-butanol, also known as -butanol or tyrosol, is a straight-chain primary alcohol with the chemical formula C₄H₁₀O (structural formula CH₃(CH₂)₃OH) and a CAS number of 71-36-3. It is a colorless, transparent liquid with an odor similar to ethanol or fusel oil, and is flammable at room temperature. Its vapor is irritating to the respiratory tract
